When Really Right Stuff released a “long” version of their carbon fiber tripods, I got very excited. Compared to my Gitzo GT3541XLS, the RRS TVC-24L supports the same amount of weight and extended to an equally impressive length (66.75″ versus 78″ on the Gitzo). The RRS excels with a savings of about a half pound in weight and folding to just 23.75″ (more than 4″ shorter than the Gitzo). After waiting several weeks for the TVC-24L to come out of backorder, I was severely disappointed upon unboxing the tripod.
